The Single Panel RV Kit offers Australian customers a Kit that combines a Heliatos MH-38 Solar Water Heating Panel a DSE Circulating Pump a 10 watt 12 v solar PV and a RV Plumbing installation Kit in one package. The 10 watt solar PV drives the pump Directly no battery of any kind needed! Together these parts form a Kit that provides all the main components you need to install a solar heated water system to your insulated hot water tank within 5.5 metres, It can be added to tanks that have alternative heating systems with thermostats. *. The RV Kit has been developed to simplify buying and installing this solar water heating system. Suitable for Boats, Caravans and Motor-Homes the Water heating panel is robust. Treated to resist salt air corrosion, 600 mm square, 6 kg when full with a slim-line height of 50 mm. The Heliatos MH-38 panel is shipped to your nominated postal address direct from the U.S. The remaining components are sent, within Australia, to your address, from SolaExchange, by Australia Post. If your tank has outlets other than 1/2″ BSP male please contact SolaExchange and we will also send you the adaptors to make the RV Kit fit. To avoid heat loss the circulating tubes must be insulated. Note: The straight compression unions that attach the tube to the panel can be substituted for 90 degree elbows for an added cost of $12.20. Any extra adaptors SolaExhange provides are at retail price
The MH-38 Single panel RV Kit contains the RV Plumbing Kit which utilises John Guest 3/8 tube and fittings. Please read the Important information below before purchasing the RV Plumbing Kit
The RV Kit SolaExchange has developed the RV Plumbing Kit to simplify the connection of your Heliatos Solar Water Heating Panels and circulating pump to your hot water storage tank. This Kit utilises the Plane Connection method. The Kit’s tube is 3/8″ John Guest (see more below) and the fittings have been selected to provide Australian customers with a Kit that is compatible with Australian plumbing systems. This Kit can be easily adapted to suit practically all insulated hot water tanks, cylinders or water storage heaters. It operates by drawing the cold water from the bottom of your tank where the cold water enters, or at the bottom drain valve. The RV Kit is designed to make it easy to connect to the MH-38 panel and the circulating pump and deliver the heated water back to your insulated tank where it is stored for domestic hot water use and supplied to your hot taps. This Kit offers Australian customers just about everything you need to make installing your Heliatos system much easier.
What’s in the RV Kit
2 x Brass compression (straight) unions to connect to the MH panel
2 x Brass bspf Tees to add the system to your hot water storage tank
1 x bspm – baspf- reducing bush
10 metres of John Guest 3/8″ tube
1 x 3/8 JG pushfit check valve
2 x 3/8 JG pushfit – to connect the solar pump (cold end) and return hot water to your tank
4 x JG locking clips
6 x 3/8″ tube inserts (for reinforcing the tube ends in hot water applications)
2 x nylon ferrules (for replacing the brass ferrules in the unions when connecting JG tube to the panel)
John Guest 3/8″ Tube and Fittings Approved for use with potable (drinking) water. This tube is rated to 150 psi (6 bar) at 150 degrees Fahrenheit (65 Celsius) That’s 30 psi (5 bar) higher than the 12 mm John Guest tube that is sold in boat and caravan supplies stores. This tube curves to a fairly tight radius especially when gently heated with a heat gun or hair dryer. It can be more easily routed than the 12 mm version. It is suitable for the Heliatos Solar Water Heating Panel when there is no more than 5 meters distance from the panel to the hot water tank. That’s a total return length of 10 metres. 12 metres being the outside maximum
If you would like buy the 3/8″ John Guest tube and fittings or the RV Plumbing Kit from SolaExchange there is is some important information you should consider first.
3/8″ John Guest tube and fittings are not “watermarked” as is the 12mm John Guest system. The tube and fittings in both systems are made from the same materials. If you search the specifications you will find the 3/8″ tube is rated to a higher pressures at same temperatures as the 12 mm. Both are rated for use in drinking water applications
The RV Kit is designed for owners who wish to install their own Heliatos Solar Water Heating System on their own vessel, vehicles.and caravans. If you take responsibility for your own installation you may consider the 3/8″ John Guest plumbing as a viable option
If you need your Solar Hot Water System system to meet the Australian Standards for domestic (home) installations then you will probably need to use copper tube, install a tempering valve and have your system professionally installed by a plumber.

This product is supplied for use with the Heliatos solar water heating system only !. Although the 3/8″ John Guest system is made from the same materials as the 12 mm John Guest tube and fittings that are available in stores stocking boating and RV accessories and the tube is rated to higher pressures at the same temperatures but it is not “water marked” as is the 12 mm JG system. Therefore the responsibility for installing this product rests solely with the customer and those persons installing it
